| 當義工們繞過了最後一個彎路時，他們被一陣劈哩啪拉的鞭炮聲給歡迎著，雖然天堂寨是個貧困的地方，村民對他們的歡迎卻一點也毫不吝嗇，他們殷勤的招待，更激發了每一位義工更大的動力。在這邊進行為期一週的暑期課程，是要讓當地小孩可以學習中、英文、環境知識、體育以及藝術，義工們不希望他們的這個課程造就的進展無法延續下去，因此上海根與芽頒發了獎學金給當地138位父母無法幫他們繳納學費的學童，讓他們能夠繼續就學。除了教學之外，義工亦發配給村民超過260箱的救助品，而為了有持續性的支援，上海根與芽更將成立一個濟貧基金，來幫助他們。
When the
volunteers rounded the last curve in the road, they
were greeted by deafening sounds—”booms,” “pops” and
“bangs”—made by fireworks set off for their arrival.
Despite the poverty in Tiantangzhai, the villagers
spared no expense to impress their guests. This hospitality
motivated every R&S volunteer throughout the next
week. Volunteers organized a week-long summer school,
at which local children studied Chinese, English,
the Environment, Sports and Art. Because no one wanted
the progress made during the summer school to go to
waste, R&S-Shanghai awarded scholarships to 138
students whose parents could not afford the tuition
fee of 95 RMB (USD $12) for school the rest of the
year.In addition to teaching, volunteers distributed
more than 260 carton boxes of donated goods to the
village families. To offer continued support to the
village, R&S-Shanghai will establish a permanent
Poverty Alleviation Fund.
一個禮拜過的相當的快，義工們離開了天堂寨，他們從村民身上學到了許多，雖然村民的生活相當貧困，但是他們卻慷慨的接待義工們，村裡的小孩亦表現出他們無窮的學習熱忱。當義工們回到了他們有手機與電視的城市生活，他們仍存有對這最需幫助地方伸出援手的美好回憶。義工們不但在那裡種下了希望的種子，自己也徹底的了解到”每個人都有能力創造不同”的道理。
The week
went by fast, and it was eventually time to go. Leaving
the village, volunteers realized how much they had
learned from their time with the villagers. Despite
extreme poverty, the village adults demonstrated compassion
by generously offering their hospitality to the visitors
and the village children inspired all the volunteers
with their endless enthusiasm for learning. In the
end, when everyone returned to the city and mobile
phones and televisions, they still had memories of
the happy time helping some of China’s most needy.
The volunteers had planted a seed of hope, and now
realize that every individual actually can make a
difference!
